Our Expert Picks series sees two PDL experts, a composite Media Pick made by voting from our six Media Experts and fans pick winners on four matches each week, one from each conference.
Colton Coreschi is the Coordinator of Communications and Social Media at the USL and currently covers the PDL.
Aaron Cranford is the Manager of Communications and Public Relations at the USL, has spent several years focused on the PDL and now focuses primarily on the upcoming USL Division III.
Our Media Experts consist of six members providing consistent coverage of various divisions of U.S. Soccer, who can be seen in the table below with their respective names and outlets.
Each week, one Media Expert will explain their selections. This week’s featured member is Kevin Johnston of Soc Takes.

Reading United AC vs. New York Red Bulls U23 - REA: "Reading has yet to concede this season through three league matches, which all resulted in wins. New York Red Bulls U23 also has three PDL wins of its own to go along with just one defeat. The Red Bulls U23 will play midweek home game Tuesday before heading to Reading, while the hosts get a full week off. Between the extra rest and simply looking the part - United recently took the USL's Richmond Kickers to a penalty shootout in a strong showing in the U.S. Open Cup - expect Reading United AC to eke out a home win in perhaps its toughest test of the young season.
Kaw Valley FC vs. Des Moines Menace - DMM: "The Menace started their 2018 PDL campaign by convincingly sitting down two Heartland Division foes, WSA Winnipeg and the St. Louis Lions, 3-0 and 4-1 respectively. Kaw Valley beat WSA Winnipeg twice already and earned a draw against the Lions, so on paper these two sides seem fairly evenly matched. But the Menace are more of a known commodity with a rich history and are coming off an impressive 2017 season. Look for Des Moines to have just a little too much for the expansion side, enough to grab three points on the road.
Mississippi Brilla FC vs. Birmingham Hammers - MIS: "Ah, what a difference that pesky ol' home advantage makes. Mississippi Brilla FC just lost at the Birmingham Hammers on Saturday, now the clubs will finish up a trilogy by playing twice more in a row. They'll tango at Mississippi Brilla FC this Wednesday, then return to Birmingham to settle the score Saturday. Since I'm only picking the Wednesday match, Mississippi Brilla FC's quality should be enough to defend its home pitch and achieve the revenge factor."
Sounders FC U23 vs. Calgary Foothills FC - DRAW: These two sides finished second and third with a comparable goal differential in the Northwest Division in 2017. This year, they again appear to be close to equals. All things considered, the Calgary Foothills might have the slightly more talented roster which would give them an edge at home or a neutral venue. In Tacoma, look for both teams to depart with a point in tow after an extremely competitive contest."
In addition to our in-house PDL experts Aaron Cranford and Colton Coreschi, each match also includes a media selection. The media selection is determined by a composite vote from representatives of the six outlets which are outlined in the table below.
