The Bucks enter the competition as the two-time defending champion

TAMPA, Fla. - The 2019 Hank Steinbrecher Cup will feature two USL League Two members, with the Flint City Bucks and Reading United AC earning spots in the seventh installment of the competition.

Flint City and Reading will be joined by tournament host and USASA Amateur Cup Champion Bavarian SC, as well as National Premier Soccer League side FC Motown.

The 2019 Steinbrecher Cup will take place over two days on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1, as the four-team field competes for the title.

The draw for the competition will occur on Friday, March 1, with current Chicago Fire and U.S. Men's National team midfielder Djordje Mihailovic drawing the pairings. Mihailovic is a former League Two player, having previously featured for Chicago Fire U23.

Flint City enters the tournament having won the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Steinbrecher Cup, while Reading makes its first appearance after reaching the 2018 USL League Two Championship Game a season ago. The Bucks also featured in the 2015 final before falling to Chattanooga FC.

"The Bucks are proud to have become the first ever team to become two time winners of the Hank Steinbrecher Cup and are most proud to have done it in back to back years," Flint City co-owner Dan Duggan said. "This year's team will be poised to go for the three-peat of this national championship to take our total to eleven national titles since joining the USL in 1996.

"This tournament is a great opportunity for us to showcase our talent early in the season and see how we stack up against the top amateur teams from different leagues across the country. We have never had the opportunity to play Reading United, so hopefully things will work out to see another all USL League Two championship match on June 1, with two of America's most storied amateur teams competing for a national title."

Reading United head coach Alan McCann also shared his excitement in having the opportunity to compete in the amateur competition.

"It is an honor for us to be given the opportunity to compete against the top amateur teams in the country," McCann said. "Adding to the clubs tradition of success by playing in the tough games is the environment we enjoy the most, so we are really looking forward to it."

Reading United President Troy Snyder added: "Good competition and player exposure is a huge part of our program. The Steinbrecher Cup will be another opportunity for our coaching staff and players to showcase their talents against the top amateur teams in the country."
