The New York-based club will compete in the Northeast Division in 2019

TAMPA, Fla. – Manhattan Soccer Club has been announced as the ninth expansion side ahead of the 2019 USL League Two season, with the New York-based club set to compete in the Northeast Division.

Manhattan SC will split hosting its home matches at Gaelic Park Field on the campus of Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York and at Randall’s Island, New York during its debut campaign.

With an already-established youth system in place, Manhattan SC is aiming to build off its youth club and immediately translate it into USL League Two success.

“We are pleased to have another ambitious club joining the Northeast Division,” USL League Two Vice President Joel Nash said. “Manhattan SC has exhibited a commitment to growing the game on the youth side in one of the biggest cities in the world, and with the addition of their USL League Two team they can continue that mission by way of another platform.”

Through Manhattan SC’s leadership – which includes Director of Coaching Ray Selvadurai, Executive Director Rich Corvino and Club Administrator Eddie Sutton – the club hopes to unite its youth players and League Two team as an opportunity to display the defined path for a developing soccer player.

“USL League Two participation will undoubtedly help Manhattan Soccer Club meet some short and long-term goals, which in turn will benefit our youth club tremendously,” Selvadurai said. “First off, our youth players will see a particular pathway to the highest level of college and amateur play in the country. Our youth players will now have serious role models to pattern their playing careers around.

“Also, we want top college programs to know that their players will be able to participate with Manhattan Soccer Club in USL League Two to serve as an avenue to continue their development at a high level during the summer months. We hope in turn to expand on our already strong college network to forge new opportunities for our youth players to play at the next level.”
