TAMPA, Fla. - Former USL League Two and Indiana University defender Andrew Gutman has been named the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy winner, which is handed out each year to the nation's top men's and women's college soccer players.
All three men's finalists previously resided with USL League Two teams, with Andre Shinyashiki and JJ Williams rounding out the field.
Gutman recently went on trial with Scottish Premier League side Rangers, along with former USL League Two and current Chicago Fire defender Matt Polster.
The former Hoosiers left back scored 11 goals and added nine assists in 2018 for the Big Ten champions.
Meanwhile, Shinyashiki and Williams finished ranked first and third in goals, respectively, among Division I players. Shinyashiki tallied 28 goals during his senior season at Denver, while Williams finished with 18 goals for the Wildcats.
