Former League Two players join Steven Gerrard's side to train in December

TAMPA, Fla. - Former USL League Two players Andrew Gutman and Matt Polster have earned a trial at Scottish Premier League side Rangers.

Both players have been involved in the Chicago Fire's organization, with Polster featuring for the club's MLS side since 2015. Meanwhile, Gutman has featured in the Fire's academy system previously, while also playing in USL League Two.

Rangers manager and former Liverpool and LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard confirmed both players are training with the Scottish giants on Tuesday.

"They are a couple of guys from the US who have come over," Gerrard said. "We are having a look at them this week."

To this point, Polster has made 82 appearances for the MLS club following his time with League Two clubs Victoria Highlanders FC and Chicago Fire U23. Polster's current contract with the Fire expires at the conclusion of 2018.

Gutman completed a standout college career with the Indiana Hoosiers this fall, scoring 11 goals and adding nine assists for the Big Ten regular season and conference tournament champions.

The Illinois native is currently eligible to sign a Homegrown contract with the Fire, enter the 2019 MLS SuperDraft or sign elsewhere given his options in Europe.
