The club will continue to play in the Southeast Division in 2019

TAMPA, Fla. – In preparation for the 2019 USL League Two season, North County United has announced a club-wide rebrand as the team becomes the Treasure Coast Tritons. The club has spent three seasons in USL League Two after previously debuting during the 2016 campaign.

Treasure Coast Tritons will continue to compete in the Southeast Division in 2019, and will play all their home matches at St. Lucie County’s South County Regional Sports Stadium in Port St Lucie, FL.

“We’re very excited to have Treasure Coast continue the positive path already constructed by North County,” said USL League Two Vice President Joel Nash. “Through the Tritons’ clear vision in providing a quality product to the people on the Treasure Coast, we fully believe the organization will deliver in its on-and-off the field commitments to the community."

The Tritons’ efforts to bring the team to Port St. Lucie have been led by Global Sports Group, which features Ryan Strickland, Thomas Durkin, Levent Guler, Eric Clermont, Lee Clark, as well Technical Director Eric Arbuzow.

"We felt this rebrand would give us the flexibility to do many great things in Port St. Lucie for years to come,” Tritons Technical Director Eric Arbuzow said. “We want to work hard to support our local community, and having a soccer team specific to the area is very important to our ownership group."

The Tritons have also brought on experienced head coach Thomas Durkin, who has spent significant time both at the amateur and professional levels. Durkin previously managed a number of top college programs in the Northeast prior to his time with the United States Under-17 men’s national team, Tampa Bay Mutiny and National Women’s Soccer League side Boston Breakers.

He also served as head coach of Bradenton Academics (now IMG Academy Bradenton) in USL League Two for the organization’s first 14 seasons.

“I feel the experience I bring to the table from my years with the [Bradenton] Academics is extremely beneficial,” Durkin said. “And I hope to play a big role in this team’s success and the overall development of our players.”
