TAMPA, Fla. - of the Canadian Premier League-U SPORTS Draft by Pacific FC earlier this week.
Peter Schaale -- formerly of Victoria Highlanders FC -- was selected in the first round HFX Wanderers FC.
Schaale was followed by Thomas Gardner of University of British Columbia, who was selected sixth overall by Pacific FC.
Meanwhile, former League Two forward Zach Verhoven was selected in the second round (ninth overall) by Pacific FC.
Verhoven previously played for League Two side TSS FC Rovers in 2017 and 2018 before leaping to the professional ranks in Canada.
The Canada native attended the University of British Columbia, where he played three seasons for the Thunderbirds. In 2018, Verhoven recorded four goals and eight assists for his college.
Verhoven was one of three British Columbia players selected by Pacific FC ahead of the club's debut season in 2019.
