TAMPA, Fla. - Former Premier Development League (soon to be USL League Two) and Real Salt Lake forward Corey Baird has been named the 2018 MLS Rookie of the Year.

The 22-year-old earned 43.88 percent of the total vote, which was comprised of selections by MLS players, media and club representatives. Baird beat out Orlando City's Chris Mueller, Philadelphia Union defender Mark McKenzie, Los Angeles FC's Joao Moutinho and Alex Roldan of the Seattle Sounders for this season's honors.

Baird finished tied for third on RSL this season in goals with eight, while also adding five assists in 31 league appearances.

He signed a Homegrown contract with RSL in Jan. 2018 following a four-year collegiate career at Stanford -- which included three-consecutive NCAA Division I national titles from 2015-2017.

The Escondido, California native previously represented PDL side Burlingame Dragons over the course of two seasons (2016-2017).

Baird has also been a fixture in the U.S. Men's National Team youth setup, earning call ups at the Under 15, U17, U18 and U20 levels throughout his career.
