TAMPA, Fla. - Former Premier Development League forward Josh Sargent scored a game-winning goal for Werder Bremen in Tuesday's 2-1 club friendly win against DSC Arminia Bielefeld.
Sargent, 18, started and played the entire match for the German Bundesliga side, in addition to scoring the match-winning goal. The St. Louis, Missouri native signed a professional contract with Werder back in Feb. 2018 upon turning 18.
The former Saint Louis FC U23 player has featured heavily this season for Werder Bremen II, the club's reserve team, and has scored six goals in 10 matches in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nord.
Sargent has also earned five call ups to represent the U.S. Men's National Team since Nov. 2017, while tallying two goals against Bolivia and Peru, respectively.
