Bantams' Weber, Tormenta's Micaletto lead selections

TAMPA, Fla. — A total of eight teams - South Georgia Tormenta FC, Mississippi Brilla FC, The Villages SC, the Birmingham Hammers, the SIMA Aguilas, the SC United Bantams, Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C. and the Lakeland Tropics - are represented on the 2018 PDL All-Southern Conference Team.

Tormenta FC lead all teams with three inclusions - with goalkeeper Pablo Jara and midfielders Marco Micaletto and Toni Soler making the cut - while The Villages SC also claim multiple representatives in defender Gabriel Torres and midfielder Leonardo Paiva.

2018 All-Southern Conference Team

GK - Pablo Jara, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Jara appeared in 12 matches (1,080 minutes) for Tormenta FC this season, and conceded just nine goals in that span, good for a 0.75 goals-against average and tallied 35 total saves. Six of those appearances resulted in clean sheets for the rising senior at Wingate University.
D - Jordan Skelton, Mississippi Brilla FC: An absolute rock for Brilla FC in the back, Skelton played every single minute of all 14 matches this season (1,260 minutes). Along the way, the rising senior at Lander University and No. 6 prospect league-wide collected four clean sheets, three goals and one assist.
D - Gabriel Torres, The Villages SC: In his second season with The Villages SC, Torres’ solid defensive work helped the club return to the playoffs after an absence in 2017. In his 13 appearances (1,058 minutes), Torres also recorded three assists, continuing a consistent offensive theme in the rising junior from the University of D.C.’s career.
D - Mathieu Laurent, Birmingham Hammers: While appearing in 13 matches (1,080 minutes) in defense for the Hammers, Laurent also recorded three goals while securing one clean sheet. The No. 43 prospect league-wide will return to UAB for his senior season this fall.
M - Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Appearing in 11 matches (803 minutes) for the unbeaten Tormenta FC, Micaletto was the team-leader in goals with four, while also tallying two assists. The rising senior and No. 24 prospect league-wide will transfer to Akron for his senior season.
M - David Graydon, SIMA Aguilas: Appearing in 12 matches with a team-leading 1,019 minutes, Graydon was the heart of the Southeast Division-winning SIMA Aguilas midfield. The St. Louis Billikens product recorded two assists on the season.
M - Toni Soler, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Recording two goals and a team-leading three assists, Soler was another crucial part of Tormenta FC’s unbeaten midfield. In 12 matches (890 minutes), Soler helped the team to six clean sheets ahead of his fall senior season at the University of Tampa.
M - Leonardo Paiva, The Villages SC: In 13 matches (1,078 minutes) for The Villages SC, Paiva was the team-leading goal-scorer with 11 tallies on the season, also recording three assists. The Notre Dame College product helped lead the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
F - Marek Weber, SC United Bantams: Appearing in all 14 matches for the SC United Bantams (1,091 minutes), Weber’s 18 goals were good for best in the entire PDL, and he added an assist on that as well. The Le Moyne graduate student scored more than half of his team’s total goals this season.
F - Brandon Guhl, Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C.: Leading Brazos Valley in both goals, with 10, and assists, with five, Guhl was a key component of the team’s Mid South Division-winning campaign. The rising junior from Butler helped his team score 42 total goals, leading Cavalry F.C. to its first playoff appearance and divisional silverware.
F - Juan David Tejada Londono, Lakeland Tropics: With a team-leading seven goals through 11 appearances (931 minutes), Londono was undoubtedly the leader in attack for the Tropics. The talented forward also tallied a lone assist on the season.
