With just a few weeks to go until the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, TopDrawerSoccer has released its initial mock draft of the first round, projecting 17 PDL alums to be taken in the first 23 selections.

Led by Wake Forest and GPS Portland Phoenix midfielder Ema Twumasi going to Los Angeles FC, four of the first five selections boast PDL experience this summer. Joining Twumasi in the top five are Michigan Bucks and University of Michigan forward Francis Atuahene going second to the LA Galaxy, Chicago FC United and Wisconsin forward Chris Mueller going third to D.C. United and Twumasi’s Wake Forest teammate and Carolina Dynamo forward Jon Bakero going fifth to Minnesota United FC.

Picks six through ten include another four PDL players, with the New England Revolution notably selecting two PDL alums with the eighth and ninth picks in UNC and Tobacco Road FC forward Alan Winn and Pacific and Burlingame Dragons defender Tristan Blackmon. Another four PDL talents come off the board from 11-15, including Atlanta United FC selecting VCU and SIMA Aguilas midfielder Rafael Andrade Santos at 14.

The final eight selections include an additional five alums, most notably including New York Red Bulls U23 forward Brian White being selected at 22 by the Seattle Sounders. Earlier, New York City FC look to go local with Columbia and Long Island Rough Riders target forward Arthur Bosua at pick no. 19.
