Red Bulls U23’s White Named No. 1 Top Prospect

Forward tops list after scoring league-high 17 goals during 2017 season

TAMPA, Fla. – Duke University standout Brian White has claimed the No. 1 ranking on the fifth edition of the 2017 Premier Development League Top Prospects list after scoring a league-high 17 goals and recording three assists in 14 regular-season games for the New York Red Bulls U23.

Wake Forest University talent Jon Bakero ranks second after finishing the season with five goals in seven games for the Carolina Dynamo, while Michigan Bucks standouts Brad Dunwell and Francis Atuahene rank third and fourth, respectively. Dunwell also competes for Wake Forest, while Atuahene plays for Michigan University. The Bucks are set to compete in the 2017 PDL Playoffs on Friday, as they play the Des Moines Menace at 7:30 p.m. ET (Watch Live).

New additions to the top 20 include FC Boulder U23’s Ryosuke Kinoshita, Reading United AC’s Aaron Molloy, OKC Energy U23’s Eric Dick, SIMA Aguilas’ Malick Mbaye and Portland Timbers U23’s Benji Michel, who will look to guide the Timbers U23 to a Western Conference title starting tonight against the FC Golden State Force at 6 p.m. MT on Friday (Watch Live). Dick will try to help the Energy U23 win the Southern Conference Championship, as the club plays FC Miami City at 5 p.m. CT on Friday (Watch Live). The Aguilas also compete in the Southern Conference Championship, facing off against Mississippi Brilla FC at 7:30 p.m. CT (Watch Live).

Since debuting in 2015, the PDL Top Prospects list has helped identify and highlight high-level Under-23 players before they made their professional debuts around the world, including New York Red Bulls midfielder Arun Basuljevic , Real Salt Lake midfielder Jose Hernandez, Philadelphia Union talents Keegan Rosenberry and Adam Najem.

A total of 24 scouts – including head coaches, technical directors and coaching directors – across North America make up theUSL Scouting Network, which delivers valuable insight on talented players and top performers within the league.
