Fuego are No. 1; Force move into second

The Fresno Fuego are No. 1 overall in the final edition of the Western Conference Power Rankings after recording their 10th win of the year during Week 10 of the 2017 Premier Development League regular season.

The Fuego are joined in the final edition of the power rankings by Southwest Division foes FC Golden State Force, as well as Mountain Division leader FC Tucson and Northwest Division clubs Calgary Foothills FC and Portland Timbers U23.

Western Conference Top 5:

1. Fresno Fuego

Previous: No. 1
Week 10 Results: W 3-2 at San Diego Zest FC
2017 PDL Record: 10-2-0
Week 11 Matches: vs. FC Golden State Force (7:30 p.m. ET, July 13), at Ventura County Fusion (7 p.m. PT, July 15)
Overview: The Fresno Fuego earned their 10th win of the season during Week 10 and officially clinched a spot in the PDL Playoffs. The Fuego have scored a Western Conference-high 38 goals this campaign, with Jose Cuevas netting 11 to lead the team.


2. FC Golden State Force

Previous: No. 3
Week 10 Results: W 5-3 at Southern California Seahorses
2017 PDL Record: 9-12
Week 11 Matches: at Fresno Fuego (7:30 p.m. PT, July 13), vs. San Diego Zest FC (7 p.m. PT, July 16)
Overview: The FC Golden State Force have clinched a spot in the PDL Playoffs after defeating the Southern California Seahorses during Week 10. Mark Verso, who scored two goals and provided two assists in the 5-3 win, leads the Force in goals (10) and assists (5).


3. Calgary Foothills FC

Previous: No. 2
Week 10 Results: T 1-1 at Lane United FC, L 0-4 at Portland Timbers U23, W 2-1 at Portland Timbers U23
2017 PDL Record: 8-2-3
Week 11 Matches: vs. Victoria Highlanders FC (2 p.m. MT, July 16)
Overview: Ali Musse scored Sunday's game-winning goal against the Portland Timbers U23 on Sunday to put Calgary Foothills FC in the driver's seat to win a second consecutive Northwest Division title. The club, which has already booked its spot in the PDL Playoffs, can clinch the title with a win against Victoria Highlanders FC during Week 11.


4. FC Tucson

Previous: No. 4
Week 10 Results: W 2-1 Albuquerque Sol F.C.
2017 PDL Record: 7-2-2
Week 11 Matches: at BYU Cougars (7 p.m. MT, July 11), at BYU Cougars (7 p.m. MT, July 12), vs. Colorado Rapids U23 (8 p.m. MT, July 15)
Overview: FC Tucson is in pole position to win the Mountain Division after winning its seventh game of the season during Week 11. Tate Schmitt, ranked seventh in the fourth edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, scored one goal and recorded one assist in the home victory.


5. Portland Timbers U23

Previous: No. 5
Week 10 Results: W 4-0 vs. Calgary Foothills FC, L 1-2 vs. Calgary Foothills FC
2017 PDL Record: 7-2-4
Week 11 Matches: at Lane United FC (7:30 p.m. PT, July 16)
Overview: The Portland Timbers U23 inched closer to clinching a spot in the Western Conference play-in match, scheduled for July 18, after defeating Foothills FC 4-0 on Friday. Francesco Amorosino scored two goals and provided one assist in the victory.
