Bucks remain first overall; Menace move up

Three-time Premier Development League champions Michigan Bucks have been named No. 1 in the final edition of the 2017 Central Conference Power Rankings after securing a berth to the PDL Playoffs during Week 10.

Heartland Division clubs Thunder Bay ChillDes Moines Menace and St. Louis Lions, as well as Great Lakes Division foe K-W United FC, join the Bucks in the final edition of the rankings.

1. Michigan Bucks

Previous: No. 1
Week 10 Results: W 3-2 vs. K-W United FC, T 0-0 vs. Cincinnati Dutch Lions
2017 PDL Record: 8-1-3
Week 11 Matches: at Chicago FC United (7 p.m. CT, July 12), vs. Derby City Rovers (7:30 p.m. ET, July 15)
Overview: The Michigan Bucks, winners of the 2016 PDL Championship, recorded their third win against K-W United FC during Week 10 en route to earning a berth to the 2017 PDL Playoffs. Since joining the PDL in 1996, the Bucks have earned a place in the PDL Playoffs 20 times, only missing the postseason in 2001 and 2009.


2. K-W United FC

Previous: No. 2
Week 10 Results: L 2-3 at Michigan Bucks
2017 PDL Record: 8-4-1
Week 11 Matches: vs. Dayton Dutch Lions (7:30 p.m. ET, July 12)
Overview: K-W United FC fell to the Bucks for a third time this year during Week 10, but the Canadian club will compete in PDL Playoffs due to results elsewhere in the Great Lakes Division. Winner of the 2015 PDL Championship, K-W United has six players with three or more goals scored this season. Ken Krolicki, ranked 14th on the fourth edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospect list, has four goals and one assist this campaign.


3. Thunder Bay Chill

Previous: No. 3
Week 10 Results: L 1-3 Saint Louis FC U23, W 2-1 Chicago FC United
2017 PDL Record: 8-3-2
Week 11 Matches: vs. St. Louis Lions (7:30 p.m. ET, July 12)
Overview: Despite falling for the third time this season during Week 10, the Thunder Bay Chill are one step away from clinching the 2017 Heartland Division title. The Chill can officially claim their first division title since 2013 by earning one point in their final game of the season during Week 11.


4. Des Moines Menace

Previous: No. 5
Week 10 Results: W 3-1 vs. St. Louis Lions
2017 PDL Record: 6-4-2
Week 11 Matches: vs. Saint Louis FC U23 (7:30 p.m. CT, July 14), vs. Chicago FC United (7:30 p.m. ET, July 15)
Overview: The Des Moines Menace won Week 10's PDL Game of the Week against the St. Louis Lions and are now in pole position to claim the Heartland Division's second berth to the PDL Playoffs. Ramone Howell scored two goals in the win for the Menace, who can book their postseason spot with wins against the Saint Louis FC U23 and Chicago FC United during Week 11.


5. St. Louis Lions

Previous: No. 4
Week 10 Results: L 1-3 at Des Moines Menace
2017 PDL Record: 6-5-1
Week 11 Matches: at Thunder Bay Chill (7:30 p.m. ET, July 12), at WSA Winnipeg (7 p.m. CT, July 14)
Overview: The St. Louis Lions suffered their third consecutive defeat, but the team is still contending for a berth in the PDL Playoffs. The club currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Saint Louis FC U23 and have two games in Week 11 to potentially overtake the Menace.
