Red Bulls U23 remain No. 1; Reading United, Eagles rise

The New York Red Bulls U23 control the No. 1 spot in the final edition of the 2017 Eastern Conference Power Rankings after clinching a berth in the Premier Development League Playoffs during Week 10.

Mid Atlantic Division contender Reading United AC, South Atlantic Division sides Myrtle Beach Mutiny and Nashville SC U23 and Northeast Division leaders Seacoast United Phantoms all join the Red Bulls U23 in the tenth and final edition of the power rankings this season.

Eastern Conference Top 5:

1. New York Red Bulls U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 10 Results: T 1-1 at Ocean City Nor'easters
2017 PDL Record: 10-1-1
Week 11 Matches: vs. FA Euro New York (7:30 p.m. ET, July 12), vs. Evergreen FC (7 p.m. ET, July 15)
Overview: The New York Red Bulls U23 were held to a tie against the Ocean City Nor'easters on Sunday, but the result was good enough to clinch a berth in the Eastern Conference play-in round, which will be held on July 18. The Red Bulls U23 also remain in the driver's seat to secure the 2017 Mid Atlantic Division title and are also one of a few clubs across North America in contention for the PDL regular-season title.


2. Myrtle Beach Mutiny

Previous: No. 2
Week 10 Results: W 2-1 vs. North Carolina FC U23, T 1-1 vs. Carolina Dyanmo
2017 PDL Record: 9-1-3
Week 11 Matches: at North Carolina FC U23 (7 p.m. ET, July 11)
Overview: The Myrtle Beach Mutiny clinched the South Atlantic Division title with a home win against the North Carolina FC U23 during Week 10. Tobenna Uzo, ranked 18th on the fourth edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, continues to shine for the Mutiny. The forward scored a goal for the team in their road match against the Carolina Dynamo on Saturday, bringing his total to 12 this season.


3. Reading United AC

Previous: No. 4
Week 10 Results: W 2-0 vs. Lehigh Valley United, W 5-0 Jersey Express
2017 PDL Record: 10-2-0
Week 11 Matches: at Jersey Express (8 p.m. ET, July 12), at Lehigh Valley United (7:30 p.m. ET, July 15)
Overview: Reading United AC clinched a berth in the Eastern Conference play-in round, scheduled for July 18, during Week 10 and is putting pressure on the Red Bulls U23 for the Mid Atlantic Division crown. Frantzdy Pierrot, who scored a hat trick in the club's 5-0 win against the Jersey Express on Saturday, leads the team with seven goals this year.


4. Seacoast United Phantoms

Previous: No. 3
Week 10 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 9-1-2
Week 11 Matches: at GPS Portland Phoenix (7 p.m. ET, July 12), vs. AC Connecticut (6 p.m. ET, July 16)
Overview: The Seacoast United Phantoms finish the season off with two games after having Week 10 off. The club currently leads the Northeast Division and will automatically claim the title should they earn two points from their next two games. Donnett Sackie leads the team in goals with seven, while Terence CarterLeonardo Paiva and Marcos Bautista have added 14 combined this campaign.


5. Charlotte Eagles

Previous: Honorable Mention
Week 10 Results: W 2-0 vs. North Carolina FC U23
2017 PDL Record: 7-3-2
Week 11 Matches: vs. Carolina Dynamo (7 p.m. ET, July 11), vs. AC Connecticut (7 p.m. ET, July 14)
Overview: The Charlotte Eagles returned to winning ways in Week 10 and have the inside track to secure the second PDL Playoffs berth from the South Atlantic Division. Two games remain for the Eagles, who can join the Mutiny in the playoffs by winning the rest of the way. Kelvin OmondiJoao Costa and Ryan Williams have led the club this season, with the three combining for 20 goals scored of the team's 24 total.
