Energy U23 move to first; Miami City jump into second

The OKC Energy U23 take control of first in this week's edition of the Southern Conference Power Rankings after clinching the 2017 Mid South Division during Week 9 of the Premier Development League regular season.

The SIMA AguilasLakeland TropicsFC Miami City and Mississippi Brilla FC join the Energy U23 in the power rankings.

Southern Conference Top 5:

1. OKC Energy U23

Previous: No. 2
Week 9 Results: W 3-1 at Texas United
2017 PDL Record: 10-1-1
Week 10 Matches: vs. FC Cleburne (5 p.m. CT, July 9)
Overview: The OKC Energy U23 officially clinched the 2017 Mid South Division title in Week 9. Julio Moncada, ranked 19th in the third edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, scored a goal in the Energy U23's win against Texas United, increasing his goal total to eight this campaign.


2. FC Miami City

Previous: No. 3
Week 9 Results: W 3-1 at Tampa Bay Rowdies
2017 PDL Record: 9-1-0
Week 10 Matches: at IMG Academy Bradenton (5 p.m. CT, July 5)
Overview: FC Miami City, currently on a six-game win streak, jumped to the top of the Southeast Division following Week 9 action. Through nine weeks of action, Miami City leads the Southern Conference in goals scored with 33 and in fewest goals conceded with five.


3. SIMA Aguilas

Previous: No. 1
Week 9 Results: L 2-3 at Lakeland Tropics
2017 PDL Record: 8-1-1
Week 10 Matches: at South Florida Surf (6 p.m. ET, July 5), at Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 (7:30 p.m. ET, July 8) 
Overview: The SIMA Aguilas fell for the first time this season during Week 9, but the club still remains three points ahead the Lakeland Tropics in the Southeast Division. However, a tough road lies ahead for the Aguilas, who play three of their remaining four games on the road.


4. Lakeland Tropics

Previous: No. 5
Week 9 Results: W 3-2 vs. SIMA Aguilas
2017 PDL Record: 7-2-1
Week 10 Matches: at Palm Beach Suns FC (5 p.m. ET, July 5), vs. IMG Academy Bradenton (5:35 p.m. ET, July 9) 
Overview: The Lakeland Tropics earned an impressive victory over the Aguilas on Saturday, as Victor Rojas led the team with two goals. The Tropics, currently third in the Southeast Division, play one home game and two road matches, including a battle against the Aguilas, to close out the season.


5. Mississippi Brilla FC

Previous: No. 4
Week 9 Results: T 0-0 vs. Houston FC, T 1-1 vs. Peachtree City MOBA
2017 PDL Record: 6-2-3
Week 10 Matches: at Houston FC (7 p.m. ET, July 6), at Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C. (7:30 p.m. ET, July 8) 
Overview: After earning four points against Mid South Division leaders Energy U23, Mississippi Brilla FC recorded back-to-back ties in Week 9. Brilla FC remains in second in the division with three games remaining in the regular season, but an important matchup with Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C. could determine who secures the second berth to the PDL Playoffs from the Mid South.
