Southern Conference Top 5:

1. SIMA Aguilas

Previous: No. 2
Week 8 Results: W 2-0 vs. IMG Academy Bradenton, W 2-1 vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies U23
2017 PDL Record: 8-0-1
Week 9 Matches: at Lakeland Tropics (7:35 p.m. ET, July 1)
Overview: The SIMA Aguilas are one of two unbeaten teams remaining in the PDL following Week 8 action. Diego Campos, ranked No. 3 on the third edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, scored his sixth goal of the season in a 2-0 win against IMG Academy Bradenton on Tuesday. Santiago Patino, ranked 28th on the PDL Top Prospects list, netted the late game-winner in a 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 on Thursday.

2. OKC Energy U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 8 Results: T 0-0 vs. Mississippi Brilla FC, L 0-1 vs. Mississippi Brilla FC
2017 PDL Record: 9-1-1
Week 9 Matches: at Texas United (7 p.m. CT, July 1)
Overview: The OKC Energy U23 had an opportunity to win their second consecutive Mid South Division title in Week 8, but the team fell short. However, due to results in the division, the Energy U23 are the first team to clinch a spot in the 2017 PDL Playoffs, and they still sit in a comfortable position to win the Mid South.

3. FC Miami City

Previous: No. 3
Week 8 Results: W 2-0 at Lakeland Tropics
2017 PDL Record: 8-1-0
Week 9 Matches: at Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 (4 p.m. ET, June 27)
Overview: FC Miami City continues to score goals and defend to perfection. The club has conceded the fewest goals (4) in the Southern Conference this year while scoring 30 goals through nine games. Defender Jonathan Parpeix has been one of the standouts for the club, helping the club record six shutouts while also providing a PDL-high eight assists this season.

4. Mississippi Brilla FC

Previous: No. 5
Week 8 Results: T 1-1 at OKC Energy U23, W 1-0 at OKC Energy U23
2017 PDL Record: 6-2-1
Week 9 Matches: vs. Houston FC (7 p.m. CT, June 29), vs. Peachtree City MOBA (7 p.m. CT, July 1)
Overview: Mississippi Brilla FC earned four important points against the Energy U23 during Week 8. The road results keep the club in contention for the 2017 Mid South Division, but it will need the Energy U23 to drop points in final three games of the season.

5. Lakeland Tropics

Previous: No. 4
Week 8 Results: T 1-1 at South Florida Surf, L 0-2 vs. FC Miami City
2017 PDL Record: 6-2-1
Week 9 Matches: vs. SIMA Aguilas (7:35 p.m. ET, July 1)
Overview: The Lakeland Tropics only recorded one point in two tough Week 8 matches, and Week 9 does not get any easier. Only the top two teams in the division advance to the 2017 PDL Playoffs, which means the Week 9 matchup against the Aguilas could make or break the club's chances.
