Energy U23’s Moncada Awarded PDL Player of the Week

UNC-Wilmington standout recorded three goals, one assist in two Week 7 games

TAMPA, Fla. – The Premier Development League has named OKC Energy U23 forward Julio Moncada Player of the Week after the Honduran talent scored three goals and provided one assist in two Mid South Division wins during Week 7.

Moncada, who competes for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and has played for Honduras Youth National Teams, netted two goals in the Energy U23’s 4-1 road victory against Houston FC on Thursday. He then recorded one goal and one assist in the club’s 6-1 road victory against Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C. on Saturday.

The forward has been named a PDL Team of the Week Honorable Mention twice (Week 3 and Week 5) this regular season. He currently leads the Energy U23 in goals scored with six and also has provided three assists.

GK – Lucas Vallilo, FC Tucson: The University at Albany goalkeeper made four spectacular saves en route to recording a shutout against San Diego Zest FC in the PDL Game of the Week on Saturday.
D – Seiji Rose, Lehigh Valley United: The Philadelphia University product scored the game-winning goal in Lehigh Valley United’s 2-1 win against the Ocean City Nor’easters on Wednesday. Rose then scored a goal in the club’s match against FA Euro New York on Saturday.
D – Kevin Coiffic, FC Miami City: Coiffic, who is ranked 36th on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospects list and earned Team of the Week honors in Week 3, scored three goals while helping Miami City record two shutouts during Week 7.
D – Manny Padilla, San Francisco City FC: The University of San Francisco defender scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 road match against the Southern California Seahorses on Friday. He then provided an assist and played all 90 minutes in the club’s 2-0 road win against the Orange County SC U23 on Sunday.
D – Kareem Salem, Albuquerque Sol F.C.: The Marymount California University defender played 170 minutes in Sol F.C.’s two shutouts against the Colorado Rapids U23 during Week 7, providing an assist in the 3-0 result on Saturday.
M – Milton Blanco, Fresno Fuego: Blanco had a hand in four of the Fuego’s five goals during Week 7, providing three assists in a 3-1 win against the Ventura County Fusion on Thursday and scoring one goal in a 2-0 victory against Burlingame Dragons FC on Sunday.
M – Audi Jepson, Seacoast United Phantoms: The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay talent recorded one goal and one assist – his sixth of the season – in the team’s 6-3 win against the GPS Portland Phoenix on Sunday.
M – Hayden Partain, Des Moines Menace: The Wake Forest University product provided an assist in the Menace’s 3-1 road win against WSA Winnipeg on June 13 and recorded the game-winning assist in the club’s 1-0 victory against the Thunder Bay Chill on Saturday.
F – Mateo Garces, Tri-Cities Otters: The Pfeiffer University talent scored two goals in a 2-2 tie against the Nashville SC U23 on June 13 before netting the game-winning goal against Peachtree City MOBA on Saturday.
F – Brian White, New York Red Bulls U23: The Duke University standout, ranked 23rd on the PDL Top Prospects list, scored five goals in two games for the Red Bulls U23 during Week 7, including all four goals for the team in a 4-1 win against the Jersey Express on June 14.
F – Julio Moncada, OKC Energy U23: Moncada, ranked 30th on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, scored three goals and provided one assist in two wins for the Energy U23.
