Energy U23 stay No. 1, on verge of clinching Mid South Division

The OKC Energy U23 remain atop the Southern Conference Power Rankings as they move closer towards clinching the Premier Development League's 2017 Mid South Division title.

Joining the undefeated Energy U23 in the rankings following Week 7 action include the SIMA AguilasLakeland TropicsMississippi Brilla FC and FC Miami City.

Southern Conference Top 5:

1. OKC Energy U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 7 Results: W 4-1 at Houston FC, W 6-1 at Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C.
2017 PDL Record: 9-0-0
Week 8 Matches: vs. Mississippi Brilla FC (4 p.m. CT, June 22), vs. Mississippi Brilla FC (10 a.m. CT, June 24)
Overview: The OKC Energy U23 are the only perfect team left in the PDL after seven weeks of action. The club recorded two more wins in Week 7 to improve to 9-0-0 on the season. If the Energy U23 earn four points in two matchups against Mississippi Brilla FC in Week 8, they will be crowned Mid South Division champions for a second consecutive season.


2. SIMA Aguilas

Previous: No. 2
Week 7 Results: W 4-2 at Palm Beach Suns FC
2017 PDL Record: 6-0-1
Week 8 Matches: vs. IMG Academy Bradenton (7 p.m. ET, June 20), vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 (7 p.m. ET, June 22)
Overview: The SIMA Aguilas remain unbeaten in the Southeast Division, earning a convincing 4-2 road win against Palm Beach Suns FC on Sunday. Diego Campos, who is ranked 13th on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, scored one of the four goals for SIMA. Campos leads the team in goals scored (5) and assists (4) this season.


3. FC Miami City

Previous: No. 3
Week 7 Results: W 4-0 at Palm Beach Suns FC, W 5-0 Weston FC
2017 PDL Record: 7-1-0
Week 8 Matches: at Lakeland Tropics (7:35 p.m. ET, June 24)
Overview: FC Miami City earned two impressive wins in Week 7, outscoring the opposition 9-0. Jonathan Parpeix recorded four assists in the two victories to give him a league-high eight this year. This season, Miami City has scored 28 goals – tied with the Energy U23 for the league-high.


4. Lakeland Tropics

Previous: No. 4
Week 7 Results: W 3-1 at The Villages SC
2017 PDL Record: 6-1-0
Week 8 Matches: at South Florida Surf (6 p.m. ET, June 21), vs. FC Miami City (7:35 p.m. ET, June 24)
Overview: The Lakeland Tropics have been on fire since dropping their season opener, winning six consecutive games to position themselves near the top of the Southeast Division. On Saturday, the club earned an impressive road win against The Villages SC. Ricardo Diegues, who scored one goal and provided one assist in the victory, leads the team with eight goals this campaign.


5. Mississippi Brilla FC

Previous: No. 5
Week 7 Results: W 5-0 vs. FC Cleburne
2017 PDL Record: 5-2-0
Week 8 Matches: at OKC Energy U23 (4 p.m. CT, June 22), vs. OKC Energy U23 (10 a.m. CT, June 24)
Overview: Mississippi Brilla FC impressed at home on Saturday, scoring five goals en route to its fifth win of the 2017 season. Badreddine Boulajoul scored two in the result, which helps Brilla FC sit comfortably in second in the Mid South Division.
