Phantoms named new No. 1; Mutiny enter top five

The Seacoast United Phantoms rise to the top of the Premier Development League Eastern Conference Power Rankings after earning their seventh win during Week 7 of the 2017 regular season.

The Phantoms leapfrog the New York Red Bulls U23, who suffered their first loss of the season to Mid Atlantic Division contender Reading United AC. The Phantoms, Red Bulls U23 and Reading United, are joined in the top five by the Charlotte Eagles and Myrtle Beach Mutiny.

Eastern Conference Top 5:

1. Seacoast United Phantoms

Previous: No. 2
Week 7 Results: W 6-3 vs. GPS Portland Phoenix
2017 PDL Record: 7-0-2
Week 8 Matches: at Western Mass Pioneers (7:30 p.m. ET, June 23), vs. GPS Portland Phoenix (6 p.m. ET, June 25)
Overview: The Seacoast United Phantoms are the last undefeated team left in the Eastern Conference after securing their seventh win of the season on Sunday. On top of being unbeaten on the season, the Phantoms have scored a conference-high 26 goals after seven weeks of action. Donnett Sackie, who scored one of the team's six goals on Sunday, leads the club with seven goals this campaign.


2. New York Red Bulls U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 7 Results: W 4-1 vs. Jersey Express, L 1-2 at Reading United AC
2017 PDL Record: 7-0-1
Week 8 Matches: vs. Lehigh Valley United (7 p.m. ET, June 21), at Evergreen FC (7 p.m. ET, June 24)
Overview: The New York Red Bulls U23 suffered their first defeat of the season in Week 7, but the team remains atop the Mid Atlantic Division. Brian White, who is ranked 23rd on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, scored five goals in two games and now leads the league in goals scored with 10 this season.


3. Reading United AC

Previous: No. 3
Week 7 Results: W 5-2 at Evergreen FC, W 2-1 vs. New York Red Bulls U23
2017 PDL Record: 5-1-0
Week 8 Matches: vs. Evergreen FC (7:30 p.m. ET, June 20), vs. Ocean City Nor'easters (7:30 p.m. ET, June 23)
Overview: Reading United AC earned two wins in Week 7, including an incredible comeback victory against the Red Bulls U23. The club has yet to lose at home this season, outscoring opponents 8-2 at Don Thomas Stadium. After scoring a hat trick for Reading United midweek, Frantzdy Pierrot leads the team in goals scored with four.


4. Charlotte Eagles

Previous: No. 4
Week 7 Results: W 1-0 vs. Tobacco Road FC
2017 PDL Record: 6-1-1
Week 8 Matches: vs. SC United Bantams (7 p.m. ET, June 22)
Overview: The Charlotte Eagles move to the top of the South Atlantic Division after earning a win at home against Tobacco Road FC on Saturday. Joao Costa scored the game-winner for the Eagles, who still have a game in hand on the second-place Nashville SC U23.


5. Myrtle Beach Mutiny

Previous: Honorable Mention
Week 7 Results: W 1-1 vs. South Georgia Tormenta FC, W 4-1 vs. North Carolina FC
2017 PDL Record: 4-1-1
Week 8 Matches: vs. Wilmington Hammerheads FC (7 p.m. ET, June 20), vs. Carolina Dynamo (7 p.m. ET, June 22)
Overview: The Myrtle Beach Mutiny earned four points to keep pace with the Charlotte Eagles, who the Mutiny have defeated, atop the South Atlantic Division. Defender Alex Nelson was among the standouts for the club in Week 7, while Ricardo Gomez also shined with one goal and two assists in the two games.
