Energy U23 stay at atop the rankings; Tropics rise after earning fifth win

The OKC Energy U23 are atop the Southern Conference Power Rankings for a second consecutive week after earning their seventh win of the season in Week 6.

Mid South Division foe Mississippi Brilla FC joins the Energy U23 in the top five alongside Southeast Division sides SIMA AguilasFC Miami City and Lakeland Tropics.

Southern Conference Top 5:

1. OKC Energy U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 6 Results: W 3-0 vs. Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C.
2017 PDL Record: 7-0-0
Week 7 Matches: at Houston FC (7 p.m. CT, June 15), at Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C. (7:30 p.m. CT, June 17)
Overview: The OKC Energy U23 earned their seventh win of the 2017 season on Saturday, leaving them as one of two perfect sides remaining in the PDL after six weeks of play. Ben Conway scored two goals in the 3-0 win, while Christian Okeke netted his second of the season. Overall, the Energy U23 have been strong on both sides of the ball, scoring 18 goals while only conceding five.


2. SIMA Aguilas

Previous: No. 2
Week 6 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 5-0-1
Week 7 Matches: at Palm Beach Suns FC (5 p.m. ET, June 17)
Overview: The SIMA Aguilas, led by Head Coach Mike Potempa, had Week 6 off after starting the season unbeaten. Diego Campos, who is ranked 13th on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, leads the team in goals scored with four. Biska Biyombo and Santiago Patino, who are also ranked on the Top Prospects list, have added five goals to the team's total.


3. FC Miami City

Previous: No. 3
Week 6 Results: W 4-0 vs. Palm Beach Suns FC
2017 PDL Record: 5-1-0
Week 7 Matches: at Palm Beach Suns FC (5 p.m. ET, June 14), vs. Weston FC (6 p.m. ET, June 17)
Overview: FC Miami City earned its fifth win of the campaign on Saturday, scoring four first-half goals in the victory over Palm Beach Suns FC. Mohamed Kourouma* scored two goals, while Kevin Coiffic, ranked 36th on the Top Prospects list, also netted a goal.


4. Lakeland Tropics

Previous: No. 5
Week 6 Results: W 4-0 vs. Weston FC
2017 PDL Record: 5-1-0
Week 7 Matches: at Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 (7:30 p.m. ET, June 14), at The Villages SC (6 p.m. ET, June 17)
Overview: The Lakeland Tropics have won five consecutive games after earning a 4-0 victory against Weston FC on Saturday. Ricardo Diegues scored two in the win to give him seven on the season. Victor Rojas netted his third of the campaign in the result and also provided an assist.


5. Mississippi Brilla FC

Previous: No. 4
Week 6 Results: L 0-2 at FC Cleburne, W 1-0 at Texas United
2017 PDL Record: 4-2-0
Week 7 Matches: vs. FC Cleburne (7 p.m. CT, June 17)
Overview: Mississippi Brilla FC suffered its second loss of the season on Friday, but the club bounced back against Texas United to maintain its spot in the top five. Thibaut Bourrier scored the winner for Brilla FC on Saturday, helping the club increase the gap between second place and third place in the Mid South Division.
