TAMPA, Fla. – GPS Portland Phoenix forward Luke Brown has been voted Premier Development League Player of the Week after scoring four goals and providing two assists in Week 5.
The Hofstra University talent netted two goals and recorded two assists to lead the Phoenix to a 6-0 win against the Long Island Rough Riders on Saturday and then scored two goals in his side’s 3-0 victory against the Westchester Flames on Sunday.
In 2016, Brown led the Pride in goals scored with eight and provided two assists en route to earning Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year honors. He also was named to the All-CAA Second Team.
GK – Remi Prieur, Burlingame Dragons FC: The Saint Mary's College netminder recorded two shutouts, making eight saves in total against Southwest Division foes San Francisco City FC and FC Golden State Force.
D – Jon Bell, OKC Energy U23: The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, talent provided an assist and helped the Energy U23 record a shutout against Houston FC on Friday.
D – Connor Fordham, BYU Cougars: Fordham scored two goals to lead the Cougars to a comeback 2-1 victory against Albuquerque Sol F.C. on Saturday.
D – Mauriq Hill, SIMA Aguilas: The Clemson University talent helped SIMA record a shutout against Weston FC on Wednesday and then scored the Aguilas’ lone goal in their 1-1 tie against the South Florida Surf on Saturday.
M – Ali Musse, Calgary Foothills FC: Musse helped Foothills FC earn six points in Week 5, scoring the game-winner in the club’s 1-0 win against Victoria Highlanders FC on Friday.
M – Lewis Long, Evergreen FC: The George Mason University standout scored two goals to lead Evergreen FC to a 3-1 victory over the Jersey Express on Saturday.
M – Wesley Cain, K-W United FC: The Wright State University product scored both goals in K-W United’s 2-0 win against the Dayton Dutch Lions on Sunday.
M – Davi Ramos, San Francisco City FC: San Francisco University product Davi Ramos played 89 minutes and scored the game-winning goal for San Francisco City in its 2-1 win against the Fresno Fuego on Sunday.
F – Eddy Milien, West Virginia Chaos: The Palm Beach Atlantic University product helped the Chaos earn two victories in Week 5, scoring a hat trick against the Dayton Dutch Lions in the club’s 4-1 win on Thursday.
F – Zach Knudson, New York Red Bulls U23: The Georgetown University talent scored a hat trick against FA Euro New York, leading the Red Bulls U23 to their fourth win of the 2017 campaign.
F – Luke Brown, GPS Portland Phoenix – Brown scored four goals and recorded two assists to lead the Phoenix to two victories during Week 5.
