Eagles move up; Reading united re-enters top five

After winning Week 5's Premier Development League Game of the Week, Reading United AC moves back in to the top five in the Eastern Conference Power Rankings.

The Nashville SC U23 and New York Red Bulls U23 still remain at the top of the rankings after earning big wins, while the Seacoast United Phantoms sit at No. 3 after remaining unbeaten through six matches. The Charlotte Eagles continue to impress and have moved up one spot to fourth in this edition of the power rankings.

Eastern Conference Top 5:

1. Nashville SC U23

Previous: No. 1
Week 5 Results: W 2-1 at Peachtree City MOBA
2017 PDL Record: 5-0-0
Week 6 Matches: at SC United Bantams (7 p.m. ET, June 6), at South Georgia Tormenta FC (8 p.m. ET, June 8), at South Georgia Tormenta FC (8 p.m. ET, June 10)
Overview: The Nashville SC U23 remain one of only two teams with a perfect record in the Eastern Conference after securing their fifth victory of the season against Peachtree City MOBA on Saturday. Martim Galvao, ranked 14th on the first edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, scored his fourth goal of the season in the match, while Week 4 Team of the Week selection Patrick Nielsen added the second.


2. New York Red Bulls U23

Previous: No. 2
Week 5 Results: W 3-0 at FA Euro New York
2017 PDL Record: 4-0-0
Week 6 Matches: at Lehigh Valley United (7:30 p.m. ET, June 7), at FA Euro New York (7:30 p.m. ET, June 11)
Overview: The New York Red Bulls U23 are the other perfect team remaining in the Eastern Conference after earning their second shutout of the season on Saturday. Zach Knudson scored a hat trick in the win against FA Euro New York, while Benjamin Lundgaard, who is ranked 12th on the PDL Top Prospects list, made two saves.


3. Seacoast United Phantoms

Previous: No. 3
Week 5 Results: W 3-1 vs. Westchester Flames, T 2-2 at Long Island Rough Riders
2017 PDL Record: 5-0-1
Week 6 Matches: at Long Island Rough Riders (7:30 p.m. ET, June 10), at AC Connecticut (6 p.m. ET, June 11)
Overview: The Seacoast United Phantoms sit atop the Northeast Division with no losses to date. After earning a 3-1 win against the Western Mass Pioneers on Saturday, the club secured an impressive point on the road against the Long Island Rough Riders. Nick Melville scored a goal in each game for the Phantoms, while Terence Carter and Donnett Sackie also scored in Week 5 to jointly lead the club in goals scored with three on the season.


4. Charlotte Eagles

Previous: No. 5
Week 5 Results: W 1-0 at SC United Bantams
2017 PDL Record: 4-1-0
Week 6 Matches: at Wilmington Hammerheads FC (7 p.m. ET, June 7), at Carolina Dynamo (7 p.m. ET, June 10)
Overview: After suffering their first loss of the season on May 27, the Charlotte Eagles bounced back and earned a strong road result against the SC United Bantams on Saturday. Douglas Oliveira scored the lone goal for the Eagles, while James Pyle recorded five saves en route to securing the team's first shutout of the season.


5. Reading United AC

Previous: Honorable Mention
Week 5 Results: W 1-0 vs. Ocean City Nor'easters
2017 PDL Record: 4-1-0
Week 6 Matches: at Evergreen FC (7 p.m. ET, June 6), at FA Euro New York (7 p.m. ET, June 10)
Overview: Reading United AC had a strong defensive performance in the PDL Game of the Week, and Aaron Molloy provided the goal to secure all three points on Friday. Hugo Delhommelle, who is ranked eighth on the PDL Top Prospects list, provided his fourth assist of the season, while Benjamin Lundt made five saves in Reading United's second consecutive shutout of the season.
