Goalkeeper made 12 saves in win against Charlotte Eagles

TAMPA, Fla. – Myrtle Beach Mutiny goalkeeper David Garcia has been voted Premier Development League Player of the Week after a standout performance against the Charlotte Eagles in Week 4.

The netminder made 12 saves, including a penalty-kick stop, in the Mutiny’s South Atlantic Division match on Saturday, keeping the club undefeated through three games. The Mutiny currently hold a 2-0-1 record heading into Week 5.

GK – David Garcia, Myrtle Beach Mutiny: The goalkeeper made 12 saves on the road against the Charlotte Eagles, who were ranked No. 1 in Week 3’s Eastern Conference Power Rankings.
D – Patrick Nielsen, Nashville SC U23: The University of Cincinnati defender – who was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Second Team and All-AAC Rookie Team in 2016 – played all 180 minutes for the Nashville SC U23 in Week 4, helping his side secure two shutouts to improve to 4-0-0 on the season.
D – Daniel Fabian, Western Mass Pioneers: The defender provided an assist against the GPS Portland Phoenix on Friday while also helping the Pioneers record their third consecutive shutout in the 2017 PDL season.
D – Sean Teixeira, New York Red Bulls U23: The Villanova University talent played 179 minutes in the New York Red Bulls U23’s two victories during Week 4, helping the club earn a 2-0 win against the Jersey Express on May 24 and assisting a goal in his side’s 3-1 win against the Ocean City Nor’easters on Saturday.
M – Joshua Bronstorph, Houston FC: The Georgia Southern University midfielder guided Houston FC to its first PDL win of 2017 on May 22, scoring two goals in the club’s 4-2 victory at Rice University Soccer Stadium.
M – Moshe Perez, FC Tucson: The Colorado Mesa University talent scored three goals to lead FC Tucson to a 5-0 win against the FC Boulder U23 at the Pleasant View Soccer Complex on Friday.
M – Chris Mueller, Chicago FC United: The University of Wisconsin–Madison standout, who was named to the All-Big Ten First Team in 2016, scored two goals to lead Chicago FC United to a 6-0 win against the St. Louis Lions on May 23.
M – Josh Goss, Colorado Rapids U23: The University of New Mexico product provided the equalizing assist and then scored the game-winner against FC Tucson on Thursday, handing the Colorado Rapids U23 their first win of the 2017 season.
F – Diego Campos, SIMA Aguilas: The Clemson University standout, who is ranked 23rd on the first edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, scored one goal and recorded one assist in the SIMA Aguilas’ 2-0 win against Palm Beach Suns FC on May 24. He then scored one goal and provided two assists in a 3-0 win against IMG Academy Bradenton on Saturday.
F – Sam Gainford, Saint Louis FC U23: The University of Akron talent, who was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team in 2016, scored one goal in the Saint Louis FC U23’s 2-0 win against WSA Winnipeg on May 24 and then scored his third of the season against the Des Moines Menace on Sunday.
F – Ricardo Diegues, Lakeland Tropics: The forward scored both goals in the Lakeland Tropics’ 2-1 win against Weston FC on May 24, and he then netted another goal in a 2-0 victory against Palm Beach Suns FC on Saturday.
