2017 Western Conference Power Rankings: Week 4

Fuego hold No. 1 spot; Sounders U23, Rapids U23 enter top five

Southwest Division sides Fresno Fuego and FC Golden State Force continue to win and score at will, keeping them at the top of the Western Conference Power Rankings for a second consecutive week.

Combined, the Fuego and Force have scored 31 goals while only conceding 5. Calgary Foothills FC, the Colorado Rapids U23 and the Sounders FC U23 join them in this week's top five.

Western Conference Top 5:

1. Fresno Fuego

Previous: No. 1
Week 4 Results: W 4-2 vs. Ventura County Fusion
2017 PDL Record: 3-0-0
Week 5 Matches: at San Francisco City FC (1 p.m. PT, June 4)
Overview: The Fresno Fuego continue to shine, scoring four goals for a second time this season. Jose Cuevas, who earned PDL Team of the Week honors following Week 1 action, scored two goals and provided one assist for the Fuego in their 4-2 win against the Ventura County Fusion on Friday.


2. FC Golden State Force

Previous: No. 2
Week 4 Results: W 2-1 at San Diego Zest FC, W 3-2 at Southern California Surf
2017 PDL Record: 5-0-0
Week 5 Matches: vs. Ventura County Fusion (7 p.m. PT, June 2), Burlingame Dragons FC (1 p.m. PT, June 4)
Overview: The FC Golden State Force continue to roll in the Southwest Division, earning two more wins to bring their record to 5-0-0. The Force lead the PDL in goals scored through four weeks of action with 20. Jose Carrera-Garcia has four this season, while Mark Verso has scored three.


3. Calgary Foothills FC

Previous: No. 3
Week 4 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 3-1-0
Week 5 Matches: at Victoria Highlanders FC (7 p.m. PT, June 2), at Victoria Highlanders (2 p.m. PT, June 4)
Overview: Calgary Foothills FC returns to action in Week 5 after having Week 4 off. The 2016 Western Conference champion will play Honorable Mention Victoria Highlanders FC two times this weekend after successfully defeating the Sounders FC U23 1-0 on May 21. Kyle Jones currently leads the team with four goals on the season, while Ali Musse has two. Nico Pasquotti was ranked seventh on the first edition of the PDL Top Prospects list on Friday.


4. Sounders FC U23

Previous: Honorable Mention
Week 4 Results: W 1-0 at Victoria Highlanders FC, W 3-0 at TSS FC Rovers
2017 PDL Record: 3-1-0
Week 5 Matches: at Lane United FC (7:30 p.m. PT, June 2), vs. Portland Timbers U23 (2 p.m. PT, June 4)
Overview: The Sounders FC U23, led by Head Coach Darren Sawatzky, earned two impressive road results to climb back into the top five. The Sounders U23 first topped Victoria Highlanders FC 1-0 on Friday and then took down TSS FC Rovers 3-0 on Sunday. Adam Jones scored the winner for the club against Highlanders FC, while Sergio RivasTrevor Jensen and Nathan Aune all netted in Sunday's victory.


5. Colorado Rapids U23

Previous: N/A
Week 4 Results: W 2-1 vs. FC Tucson
2017 PDL Record: 1-0-1
Week 5 Matches: at FC Boulder U23 (5:30 p.m. MT, June 4)
Overview: After opening their season with a 0-0 tie against the FC Boulder U23 on May 13, the Colorado Rapids U23 earned an impressive 2-1 win against FC Tucson on Thursday. Josh Goss and Noah Bushey scored the goals for the Mountain Division side, which makes its first appearance in the top five this season.
