K-W United rises; Chicago FC United enters top five

K-W United FC, winner of the 2015 PDL Championship, jumped to the top of the Great Lakes Division following Week 3 action, and the Canadian club has subsequently rose in the Central Conference Power Rankings.

The Michigan Bucks remain at the top of the rankings after recording an impressive win in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, while Chicago FC United also has a place in the top five after securing an Open Cup win of its own.

1. Michigan Bucks

Week 4 Matches: at Dayton Dutch Lions (7 p.m. ET, May 23), vs. West Virginia Chaos (12 p.m. ET, May 27)
Overview: After defeating K-W United FC 2-0 in their first game of the 2017 PDL campaign, the Bucks took down professional club Indy Eleven 1-0 in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. University of Michigan talent Francis Atuahene, who earned Week 1 PDL Team of the Week honors, scored the lone goal in the Open Cup win.


2. Des Moines Menace

Week 3 Results: W 2-0 vs. WSA Winnipeg
2017 PDL Record: 1-0-0
Week 4 Matches: at St. Louis Lions (5 p.m. CT, May 27), at Saint Louis FC U23 (3:30 p.m. CT, May 28)
Overview: The Des Moines Menace opened their 2017 PDL campaign with a win, topping WSA Winnipeg 2-0 at home on Saturday. Wake Forest University product Hayden Partain scored a stellar free kick in the victory, while Devyn Jambga also added to the score line.


3. K-W United FC

Previous: No. 5
Week 3 Results: W 3-0 at West Virginia Chaos, W 4-0 at Derby City Rovers
2017 PDL Record: 2-1-1
Week 4 Matches: vs. West Virginia Chaos (4 p.m. ET, May 28)
Overview: After dropping its season opener against the Michigan Bucks, K-W United FC recorded back-to-back wins in Week 3. Mohamed Aborig scored a hat trick in his side's 3-0 win over the West Virginia Chaos on Thursday, while Sameer Fathazada scored two in K-W United's 4-0 win against the Derby City Rovers on Saturday.


4. Thunder Bay Chill

Previous: No. 3
Week 3 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 0-0-0
Week 4 Matches: None
Overview: The Thunder Bay Chill will sit out one more week before beginning their PDL campaign on June 3. Forwards Sullivan Oliveira Silva and Brandon Swartzendruber look to lead the attack this year, while Calumet College of St. Joseph defender Mitchell Osmond is one to watch on the back line.


5. Chicago FC United

Previous: Honorable Mention
Week 3 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 0-0-0
Week 4 Matches: vs. St. Louis Lions (6 p.m. CT, May 23), vs. WSA Winnipeg (3 p.m. CT, May 26)
Overview: Chicago FC United has yet to kick off its PDL season, but the club has still earned significant results. The PDL franchise defeated the United Soccer League's Pittsburgh Riverhounds 3-1 in the Second Round of the U.S. Open Cup, and FC United will look to carry that form into the league against the St. Louis Lions on Tuesday.
