Led by Head Coach Dave Dixon, the Charlotte Eagles caught the attention of many by handily defeating a talented Wilmington Hammerheads FC team at home. The performance helped them climb to the top spot in this week's rankings, while two new teams in the Nashville SC U23 and Tobacco Road FC jump into the top five.

While Joao Costa and Kelvin Omondi scored five of the team's six goals, Lindsey Wilson College talent Mutaya Mwape bossed the midfield, demonstrating his quality with the ball on multiple occasions.

Fredlin Mompremier, Tyler Collishaw, and Akiel Barrett each tallied a goal, as the Nor'easters cruised to the Second Round of the tournament. Led by Head Coach John Thompson, the Mid Atlantic Division side looks poised for another strong year.

Overview: Ahead of the season, the Nashville SC U23 looked strong on paper, which landed them a spot among the Honorable Mentions in the preseason edition of the Eastern Conference Power Rankings. On Saturday, the club proved to be as good as expected, earning a convincing 6-1 win against Peachtree City MOBA at home. Martim Galvao, who finished the 2016 PDL season ranked No. 24 on the Top Prospects list, led the team with two goals scored. Blake Wilson also impressed, scoring once and assisting once in 62 minutes of action.

Overview: It may be Tobacco Road FC's first PDL season, but the Durham-based club is making a name for itself among the many talented Carolina-based teams. Tobacco Road kicked off its season on the road against the North Carolina FC U23 on Wednesday, and it came away with a point after Jonathan Ray scored an equalizer in the 89th minute. On Saturday, the club had its way with the Carolina Dynamo, as Ray once again scored a goal in the 4-0 result.
