The Fresno Fuego kicked off their 2017 Premier Development League campaign with a convincing 4-0 win against Burlingame Dragons FC in Week 1's PDL Game of the Week.

Jose Cuevas scored the first two goals of the match, netting a perfectly-placed, right-footed curler by Dragons FC goalkeeper Timoteo Arellano in the fourth minute of play. Milton Blanco and Diego Casillas also tallied a goal apiece, while a defense led by University of Virginia standout Sergi Nus and goalkeeper Agustin Rey secured the club's first shutout of the campaign.

In the Mountain Division, the BYU Cougars recorded two eye-opening results on the road.

Over the course of two days, the Cougars earned four points against FC Tucson at the Kino Sports Complex, including an impressive 3-0 win on Friday. Blake Frischknecht and Cameron McLaughlin were the stars on Friday, as the former netted two goals and the latter tallied one goal and one assist.

On Saturday, Tucson netted its first goal of the 2017 campaign, thanks to a penalty-kick conversion by University of Louisville talent Tate Schmitt. However, the Cougars earned a penalty of their own in the 78th minute, and Connor Fordham coolly finished from the spot.

Elsewhere across the league, Calgary Foothills FC, ranked No. 1 on the preseason edition of the Western Conference Power Rankings, earned two victories against TSS FC Rovers. On Friday, Foothills FC fell behind the Rovers, 3-0, before scoring four unanswered to record a win in their first game of the season at the Calgary Soccer Center.

FC Golden State ForceSan Diego Zest FC and San Francisco City FC all recorded a win over the weekend, with the Force earning two victories in the Southwest Division.
