Jersey Express and Rutgers University goalkeeper David Greczek signed a professional deal with the United Soccer League's Swope Park Rangers after being drafted 58th overall in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Sporting Kansas City.

Greczek, who appeared in one match during the 2014 PDL regular season, played seven games for the Express in 2016, making 28 saves while helping his club record five wins. He finished the PDL season ranked No. 23 overall on the 2016 PDL Top Prospects list.

“We’re very excited to bring David into the team,” Swope Park Rangers head coach Nikola Popovic said in a release. “David is the type of goalkeeper that we look for in our system, and we think he can be a very important player in this role.”

Building off his success with the Express in the 2016 PDL regular season, the 22-year-old goalkeeper led the Big Ten in saves with 101. A former member of the New York Red Bulls Academy, Greczek has also trained with New York City FC, joining the MLS club for a two-week training stint in 2015.

Greczek joins many PDL alums to have signed their first professional contract in 2017. Michigan Bucks standout Adam Najem and Chicago Fire U23 alum Marcus Epps have joined the Philadelphia Union, while Des Moines Menace talent Sam Brotherton inked a deal with English Premier League club Sunderland A.F.C. A total of 59 PDL alums – 73 percent of the entire draft class – were chosen in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

“Everyone I’ve spoken with only say good things about the Swope Park Rangers and Sporting Kansas City," Greczek said, "so I’m just happy to be in that environment.”
