Premier Development League alum Marcus Epps has signed a professional contract with Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union ahead of the 2017 regular season.

The midfielder, who appeared for the Chicago Fire U23 in 2013, was one of 59 PDL alums selected in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Epps was selected No. 25 overall by the Union.

“We are thrilled to sign Marcus and have him join Philadelphia Union,” Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Earnie Stewart said in a release. “Marcus impressed us over his collegiate career and has continued to show his abilities throughout this preseason. We are excited to see what he will bring to our club in years to come.”

Epps played collegiately at South Florida University, appearing in 75 matches over the course of four seasons. In 2016, the midfielder scored three goals and provided three assists in 14 matches.

The Mississippi-native is the latest PDL alum to sign their first professional contract in 2017. Draft picks Daniel Johnson and Stefan Cleveland both inked a deal with the Chicago Fire on Jan. 31, while Charlotte Eagles alum Santiago Moar joined the United Soccer League's Bethlehem Steel FC on Jan. 30.
