Joins franchise after five years of PDL coaching experience

John Miglarese has joined South Georgia Tormenta FC as Head Coach ahead of the franchise's second PDL season.

"When you look at leadership, you look at some key things, and one of them is momentum, and what I think the Tormenta leadership and organization have done in such a short time is create momentum," Miglarese said at a Tormenta FC press conference on Tuesday. "There's a certain amount of energy, a certain amount of enthusiasm and a certain amount of purpose, and, frankly, it's contagious.

"As I was coaching a PDL team last year and was playing against them, walking into Statesboro, leaving the hotel, coming to the complex, there was a different standard just walking in. Even my team, who were not even the home team, actually played pretty well because we were excited for that opportunity to play in that kind of environment."

Miglarese replaces Ben Freakley, who served as Head Coach and General Manager in the team's inaugural season. Freakley will retain his position as General Manager after guiding the club to a 6-5-3 record in 2016.

Tormenta FC's new Head Coach has 17 years of collegiate coaching experience and five years of PDL coaching experience on his resume, recently leading the Southern West Virginia King's Warriors to a 7-5-2 record in the South Atlantic Division. Miglarese has received numerous collegiate accolades over the years, including two Conference Coach of the Year honors, one Regional Coach of the Year award and one National Coach of the Year nomination.
