Following a strong campaign in the 2016 PDL regular season, Isaiah Madrid has been shining bright this college campaign with Valparaiso University.

Gerardo Martinez caught up with the Albuquerque Sol F.C. standout, who has seven goals and four assists – both team-highs – this fall.

“When you have something so organized like the Sol, who brings in good players from all over, it really helps out,” Madrid said. “You’re having really intense training sessions and you’re playing good games every week. The competition level is high.”

Madrid, who provided two assists in seven games for Sol F.C. in 2016, finished the 2016 PDL season ranked 39th on the 2016 PDL Top Prospects list. Having earned back-to-back Second Team All-Horizon League selections, he was also named a PDL Player to Watch for the 2016 college season.

Valparaiso is currently 7-2-3 and 3-0-2 in Horizon League play. The Crusaders will play Wisconsin-Green Bay at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
