Forward scores game-winner in first start for USL's Riverhounds

Chevaughn Walsh, voted 2016 PDL MVP, earned his first professional start on Saturday, and the forward made a big impact by scoring the game-winner for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the 23rd minute of a 2-0 win against Orlando City B.

Walsh, who scored 14 goals and provided three assists during the 2016 PDL regular season with the Ocean City Nor'easters, fired a low strike in with his left foot to record his first goal for the USL side. He played all 90 minutes in the Riverhounds' road win over OCB at the Titan Soccer Complex, earning USLSoccer.com Man of the Match honors.

The 6-foot-3 forward made his professional debut against the Harrisburg City Islanders on Aug. 27, attempting two shots – one on goal – in 25 minutes of action.

The 21-year-old finished the PDL campaign ranked second on the 2016 PDL Top Prospects list – only behind forward Christian Chaney, who signed with USL club Sacramento Republic FC following his impressive campaign with the Fresno Fuego.

The Riverhounds improve to 6-15-5 in the 2016 USL regular season. Walsh and the Riverhounds will play the Charlotte Independence at 7 p.m. ET from the Ramblewood Soccer Complex on Sept. 10.
