While the top team in last week’s Eastern Conference Power Rankings suffered its first defeat of the regular season during Week 7, the New York Red Bulls U23 find themselves in this week’s edition due to that important midweek result.

Reading United AC fell for the first time this campaign, losing to the Red Bulls U23, 1-0, on the road, but the club remains atop the Mid Atlantic Division standings.

Here’s the Eastern Conference’s Top 6:

1. Reading United AC (Previous: 1)
Last Week: L 1-0 at New York Red Bulls, W 2-1 vs. Jersey Express
After falling at Red Bull Training Facility during the week, Reading United bounced back with a big win against the Express on Saturday. While Jelani Pieters and Hugo Delhommelle scored the goals for Reading United at home, goalkeeper Ben Beaury was the hero, making nine saves to help his side earn all three points.

2. Charlotte Eagles (Previous: 2)
Last Week: L 2-0 vs. South Georgia Tormenta FC, W 1-0 SC United Bantams
A loss to Tormenta FC at home was not the start to Week 7 that the Eagles wanted, but the South Atlantic Division leaders finished on a strong note on Saturday. In a Carolina derby, the Eagles came out on top of the Bantams, as Santiago Moar scored the only goal in the contest at Charlotte Christian School.

3. GPS Portland Phoenix (Previous: 5)
Last Week: W 4-0 vs. Seacoast United Phantoms
In what was a highly-anticipated Northeast Division battle, the Phoenix turned in one of their best performances of the season against the previously-ranked Phantoms. Ifunanyachi Achara scored two goals to lead the way, while Kyle Shangraw and Xhane Reid each added a tally to the scoreline. With the win, the Phoenix jump into within three points of the top spot in their division with two games in hand.

4. Western Mass Pioneers (Previous: 6)
Last Week: W 2-1 at FC Boston, W 1-0 at Westchester Flames
The Pioneers sit atop the Northeast standings after earning two wins in Week 7. Chae Brangman scored a goal in each game, while Nicholas Zucco made eight saves over the course of both road contests. Now on a five-game unbeaten run, the Pioneers will play their next four games at Lusitano Stadium.

5. Baltimore Bohemians (Previous: NR)
Last Week: W 4-0 at Lehigh Valley United Sonic
The Bohemians are back in the second position in the Mid Atlantic standings and back in the Top 6 of the Eastern Conference Power Rankings after earning a 4-0 road win against the Sonic at Whitehall High School. Michael Scott, Mamadou Kansaye and Tyler Gabarra all penciled their names in on the score sheet, while Christopher Fenner made four saves to preserve the shutout.

6. New York Red Bulls U23 (Previous: NR)
Last Week: W 1-0 vs. Reading United AC
The Red Bulls U23 find themselves in the Top 6 for the first time this regular season after handing Reading United its first loss of the season. Arun Basuljevic and Christopher Lema, who are both ranked inside the top 20 in the latest edition of the 2016 PDL Top Prospects list, combined to give the Red Bulls U23 their third win of the season.
