Four PDL alumni named among top-10 ranking

Portland Timbers U-23s and Ventura County Fusion alum Brandon Vincent of the Chicago Fire was listed No. 1 on FourFourTwo’s Top 10 Breakout Stars in MLS.

Vincent, coming off an NCAA Championship with Stanford, was selected No. 4 overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. He also made his international debut with the U.S. Men’s National Team during the team’s 1-0 victory against Canada on Feb. 5 at StubHubCenter.

FourFourTwo’s Travis Clark says the 21-year-old defender “has the potential to be a starting left back from Day 1. His confidence is sure to be high after spending a few weeks in January with the U.S. Men’s National Team.”

A total of four players with PDL ties are on FourFourTwo’s MLS Breakout list.

At No. 3, Cristian Roldan enters his second season with Seattle Sounders FC. Roldan represented the Washington Crossfire and formerly played at the University of Washington, where he won a Pac-12 title in 2013.

At No. 4 is Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Sam Adekugbe. The 21-year-old played in the PDL in 2013 with Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23.

At No. 6, the LA Galaxy’s Ema Boateng formerly played for Ventura County Fusion during the 2013 PDL season.
