MIDLAND, Texas & TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League announced today that West Texas FC will join USL League Two for the 2026 season.
After previously competing as the Midland/Odessa Sockers, the club was sold and rebranded in 2022. As West Texas FC, the team enjoyed three successful seasons in the NPSL taking home back-to-back regular season conference titles and winning the 2024 Lone Star Conference Playoffs. The club recruits the best available talent to fill its roster and coaching staff as it looks to field a high-level and entertaining team in front of its fans.
“USL League Two is forging an exciting path for the expansion, development, and promotion of pre-professional soccer,” said West Texas FC Owner Jason Cannon. “West Texas FC is both excited and proud to become the newest member of this elite league as we continue to elevate and grow soccer in the Midland-Odessa area.”
The club is a crucial part of the dedicated sports scene in Midland-Odessa. Each summer, the club offers free and low-cost camps that are open to the public. West Texas intends to be visible in the community year-round by participating with STEM projects at local schools and museums, appearing in holiday parades, and more activations throughout the year. West Texas strives to create a space for teamwork and growth, working under a philosophy that prioritizes doing the hard work, honoring the process, and accepting the outcome.
Under the West Texas FC branding, the club has welcomed some top pre-professional players who had strong summers with the team. Olivier Correa played for West Texas in 2024 and won the NPSL Golden Ball. Also on the 2024 roster was Luke McCormick, who later signed a professional contract with Texoma FC in USL League One.
“There’s been so much growth for soccer in so many different parts of the country and Midland-Odessa is a prime example of what a high-performing club can do when put in front of a passionate fanbase,” said Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “As they come into League Two, we know they will continue to set a high bar for what’s possible in western Texas.”
West Texas will compete in League Two’s Southern Conference.
