Proven youth soccer organization adds pre-professional teams

CENTENNIAL, Colo. & TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League announced today that Real Colorado will join USL League Two and W League for the 2026 season.

Real Colorado has built itself to become one of the top youth soccer clubs in the nation since its founding in 1986. The club has graduated elite players into youth and senior national teams and some of the nation’s top college programs. The club centered itself around a philosophy of hard work, creativity, and excellence while being a community-driven club committed to the holistic development of every player.

“Real Colorado has one of the most storied histories in the country for developing impact players at the professional level and international levels,” said Jared Spires, Real Colorado CEO. “USL League Two and W League provides our Real Colorado men and women with a vital next step; a competitive platform that extends their development beyond the youth club. It’s a place where our players can challenge themselves, grow, and take meaningful strides toward their professional and personal goals.”

Currently, Real Colorado serves over 4,500 players from age 3 to 19 in the greater Denver area. The club ensure that its players, coaches, and families are embedded in the community through activations around local schools, neighborhoods, and community organizations.

Real Colorado has been the home to multiple elite professional players in their youth soccer days, most notably Sophia Wilson and Mallory Swanson of the United States Women’s National Team and Janine Sonis of the Canadian Women’s National Team. On the men’s side Real Colorado helped develop Tajon Buchanan who currently plays for Villarreal CF in Spain and the Canadian Men’s National Team. The club also fostered the career of goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who’s spent over a decade in Europe as a professional, currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Championship. Former club president Lorne Donaldson led the Jamaica Women’s National Team as head coach to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, helping them become the first Caribbean nation to advance past the group stage.

"Few clubs have the combination of experience, expertise, and proof of concept that Real Colorado has,” said Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional. “As they add pre-professional teams for their men’s and women’s programs, we are keen to see how its players will seize these opportunities and how the fans will rally around the club.”

The club will be a member of the Western Conference’s Mountain Division in both League Two and W League.
