Leading northeast development program adds pre-professional men’s team

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. & TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League announced today that Connecticut Rush will join USL League Two for the 2026 season.

Founded in 2012 as a part of the Northeast Rush organization, CT Rush has grown to provide innovative and challenging player development programming for over 1,300 players across the State of Connecticut. The club follows its C.A.R.E. model across all age groups to teach creativity, adaptability, resiliency, and explosivity.

“Joining USL League Two is a game-changing moment for Connecticut Rush and an important step in completing our development pyramid,” said Greg Cumpstone, CT Rush Technical Director. “The platform allows our collegiate-level Rush alumni to stay sharp over the summer and provides other top talent from inside the state a platform to showcase themselves at the pre-professional level. Just as importantly, it creates an aspirational pathway for our younger players and a clear vision of where their hard work can take them.”

CT Rush participates in Northeast Rush’s program, Rush CARES, which facilities support for and access to their high-quality soccer opportunities in regions with lower socioeconomic statuses. Rush CARES helps families in need ensure their athletes are able to travel to tournaments, have the proper uniforms, and more. CT Rush reports giving out over $250,000 in financial aid scholarships this past year.

The club’s alumni list for its boys’ programming features many high-level college players, headlined by Scott Testori, who was named the 2020 United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year before playing four years at UConn.

“CT Rush has done a fantastic job building a program that can produce talented and hard-working players,” said Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “Creating a pre-professional opportunity on its men’s side will continue to push these players to grow as individuals and as a club.”

Connecticut Rush will play in the Northeast Division of League Two’s Eastern Conference. The club will play out of southern Middlesex County.
