Asheville native helps club achieve impressive defensive record

TAMPA, Fla. - USL League Two announced Jonny Mennell of Asheville City SC as the 2025 Golden Glove winner. The goalkeeper had a 0.27 goals against average during the regular season.

Mennell returned to his hometown club for the second season in League Two and helped Asheville to concede the least goals in entire league. The Xavier University goalkeeper did not see a goal go past him in the first 515 minutes of league play. Mennell finished the regular season with three goals against and nine clean sheets.

“Being awarded the Golden Glove is a tremendous honor, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. First, I wanted to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play this beautiful game. I wouldn’t be receiving this award without the support of this club, my teammates, the fans, and my family,” said Mennell. “My teammates put me in great positions all year and sacrificed their bodies week in and week out to earn three points. While this is an individual award, it wouldn’t have been possible without the time, support, and belief that so many people have poured into me.”
