With new divisions debuting and returning clubs eager to prove themselves, this weekend offers a glimpse at what’s shaping up to be one of the league’s most competitive seasons yet.

Here are four must-watch matches as the campaign begins: 


EASTERN CONFERENCE

 

Virginia Beach United vs. Lionsbridge FC 


Virginia Beach Sportsplex – May 10, 7:00pm local 

A rematch of 2024’s Chesapeake Division title race, where Lionsbridge edged Virginia Beach United on head-to-head results. Expect a fierce battle as both sides aim to stake an early claim in what could again be a tightly contested division. 


Central Conference

 

FC Ambush vs. Peoria City 


Missouri Baptist University – May 10, 7:00pm local 

A historic opener for the brand-new Great Plains Division as expansion side FC Ambush hosts Peoria City, the 2024 national finalist. This match offers a true test for the Ambush, who face one of League Two’s elite clubs right out of the gate. 


Southern Conference

 

Montgomery United FC vs. Dothan United 

 

Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex – May 10, 7:00pm local 

Montgomery United makes its USL League Two debut at home in what’s expected to be a raucous atmosphere. They’ll have their hands full with Dothan United, a team hungry to build on a strong inaugural campaign that saw them narrowly miss the playoffs last season. 


WESTERN CONFERENCE

 

Almaden FC vs. Monterey Bay FC 2 


Pioneer High School – May 10, 7:00pm local 

A heavyweight clash between recent division champions. 2024 winners Almaden FC face off with 2023 champs Monterey Bay FC 2, setting the stage for another thrilling year in the Western Conference.
