Georgia club to round out South Central Division

Columbus, Ga. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Columbus United FC will join USL League Two beginning in the 2025 season.

Columbus United FC was launched in 2023, bearing the same name as a youth club with deep roots in the Columbus community. Founded and owned by teammates that grew up playing for that youth club in the 1970’s, Columbus United is a club that is built by and for the people in its community.

“Columbus United FC is thrilled to join USL League Two in our second season,” Eleni Hitchcock, Columbus United FC General Manager, said. “We are grateful for the support and dedication of our players, fans, front office staff, and the entire Columbus community that has fueled our growth. We cannot wait to compete against top clubs across Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Together we are building something special in the sport and in the Columbus community. Let’s make this season unforgettable!”

The club will compete in the South Central Division in 2025.

Columbus United isn’t just a launching pad for players – aspiring sports executives will also have the chance to gain firsthand experience by being a part of the club’s League Two season.

“Columbus United FC is the kind of story you can’t help but root for,” Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional, said. “We’re extremely excited to welcome this ownership group and give them the platform to be a real pillar in their community.”
