Montgomery, Ala. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Montgomery United FC will make its debut in USL League Two beginning in the 2025 season.
Montgomery United is the newly established pre-professional soccer component of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. The program was formed to create an elite pathway for players aspiring to reach the professional level and to unite the community through the beautiful game. The club looks to quickly become an integral part of the Montgomery community and is dedicated to providing high-level soccer to the area.
"We are thrilled to be bringing the USL League Two to Montgomery and to Central Alabama," stated club General Manager Manny Sanchez. "This will be a great opportunity for our community to watch high-level soccer and to help further grow the game in the River Region. Having a senior-level team will also provide our area youth players with a pathway to the next level, and allow local college players to enhance their skills during the summer. We are truly looking forward to the opportunity to compete in USL League Two.”
Montgomery United FC will play its home matches in the Emory Folmar YMCA Championship Stadium located in Montgomery, Alabama, as a member of the South Central Division.
“Of course, I can attest to the constantly growing soccer community in Alabama” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “It’s always an exciting thing to be able to welcome a League Two club there, and the Montgomery United FC group is putting their people at the forefront. I can’t wait to see what they do in our league.”
