The Woodlands, Texas, & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Global Football Innovation Academy (GFI) will join USL League Two beginning in the 2025 season.
The club was founded in 2023 with the goal of empowering players to reach their full potential both on and off the field by providing them with access to the best resources, facilities, experiences, and support possible. GFI was originally established as a youth club, and is actively expanding to continue to build and provide a development pathway for players in the Houston area.
"We are excited to be joining the league and look forward to introducing USL League Two to the Woodlands [area],” said GFI Academy Director Gareth Glick. “We believe that the league aligns perfectly with our mission statement to provide a wide variety of development opportunities for players and coaches, as well as our desire to connect our club with the community through the game of soccer."
GFI will play their home matches in The Woodlands, Texas, as a member of the Lone Star Division.
“In their short history, GFI have already become a premier club for youth players looking to push their game to the highest level,” said Joel Nash, USL Senior Vice President of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “We’re really excited to expand the USL footprint in Texas, and with GFI becoming a part of the League Two family, we can continue to provide another opportunity for player development through a club built on strong character.”
