Hockessin, De. & Tampa, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced today that Delaware FC will join USL League Two beginning in the 2025 season.
The club was originally founded in 1989 as Hockessin Soccer Club, but was eventually renamed as Delaware FC, maintaining its mission of providing “soccer for all.” DEFC has been a premier destination for youth development, with a long list of notable alumni that includes USMNT center-back Mark McKenzie. The club has participated in the area’s top tournaments and leagues for the past 15 years.
“Delaware FC can’t be more excited to be a part of USL League Two,” said Scott Mosier, Sporting Director at Delaware FC. “We are very excited to provide our membership of over 3,500 players the opportunity to watch what the highest level of soccer has to offer in the state of Delaware, helping cultivate and strengthen the base of future soccer players in the years to come."
Delaware FC will play their home matches in Wilmington and Henlopen, Delaware, as a member of the Mid-Atlantic Division.
“Delaware FC has been one of the most prominent youth clubs in the Atlantic region, so we couldn’t be more happy to welcome them to League Two” said Joel Nash, SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “The club has long supported the development of local talent, and adding a League Two team to their current infrastructure will continue to elevate soccer in Delaware.”
