The Flint City Bucks have signed defender Matthew Fisher for the upcoming USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.

“I’m extremely excited to join such a great organization like the Flint City Bucks,” Fisher said. “The culture and the fans ultimately made me want to be a part of the Bucks family. I look forward to playing in front of all the fans at Atwood Stadium.”

Fisher is teammates at the University of Michigan with returning Flint City defender Nolan Miller. Following in Miller’s footsteps, Fisher earned a place on the Big Ten Freshman Team this past fall. He started 16 games, helping the Wolverines to six shutouts.

The right back tied for the team lead with three assists. Two of those came on the road during Big Ten Tournament play: one at Northwestern and one at Indiana.

Before college, Fisher spent several years in the development academy of Sporting Kansas City(MLS). He co-captained sides at the U-17 and U-19 levels, eventually signing an amateur contract to play with Sporting Kansas City II in MLS Next Pro.

Fisher is a native of Rochester, Michigan.
