COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed forward Quenzi Huerman ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Huerman joins the professional ranks having competed in USL League Two for Asheville City SC and for the University of North Carolina collegiately. This past two seasons for Asheville, Huerman recorded nine goals and seven assists in 23 appearances and was voted the South Central Division Player of the Year this past campaign.

“I am delighted to have signed with the Switchbacks. I cannot wait to meet the team and get to work with them," said Huerman. "The coaches and the organization as a whole put their trust in me and I cannot wait to start my professional career in such a great environment. We'll be ready to put on a show for our fans."

This past fall for North Carolina, Huerman earned United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team honors after recording 10 goals and seven assists in 1,467 minutes. He was also selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team for the Tar Heels.

“We are excited to have Quenzi join the group for 2024. We have watched him develop and progress during his time in college and USL League Two," said Switchbacks Head Coach James Chambers. "His determination to improve himself and his game are traits we value. We know that he will bring that mentality into the group and make a positive impact for the coming season.”

Analysis

Quenzi Huerman’s path to the professional ranks is a fascinating one, with the French forward having begun in NCAA Division II at Palm Beach Atlantic University, earning All-America honors in 2021, before transferring to Seton Hall University for his senior season and then to North Carolina for his graduate campaign.

Wherever he has gone, however, he has produced in the final third, winning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year honors for the Sailfish in 2021 after recording six goals and eight assists in 963 minutes before leading Seton Hall with seven goals and four assists in 2022. He did the same at Asheville City SC in USL League Two, and now the 23-year-old will aim to do the same as he joins the Switchbacks.
