Texas team ready to make a splash in their first USL season

KYLE - Today the USL announced that Hill Country Lobos will be the latest club to join USL League Two.

"We are beyond thrilled to take the next step as an organization in both our competitive status and the impact we can have on our local community,” David Walding, President and Founder of Hill Country Lobos, said. “Now as Hill Country Lobos, we have the chance to reach full stride as stewards of Hays, Comal, and Caldwell counties through the power of local soccer. ¡Con pasión e ilusión, siempre!"

The club’s mission is to provide an opportunity for everyone to advance in the soccer landscape, regardless of their background of financial means. That doesn’t just mean players – The club is focused on generating a high-level environment for coaches, executives and fans.

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome Hill Country Lobos to USL League Two” Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, said. “It only takes one conversation with their leadership to see how determined and well-equipped they are to make a positive impact on their community, and we’re thrilled they’re doing that in League Two.”

Hill Country Lobos was founded in 1996, under the name Galaxia SC. Walding started the club as a way to provide unaccompanied minors receiving immigration services to integrate into the community. In 2016, the club was renamed to “Lobos” to represent the nature of the club – similar to that of a wolfpack, always pulling together.

The club still provides legal immigration assistance to children and their families in the Austin area through a formal immigration project.
