Summary

1
Lionsbridge FC
4-0-0 vs Virginia Beach United
June 3
7:00 p.m. ET
Four games. Four wins. Eleven scored. One conceded. In the match where they did concede that goal – they gave Northern Virginia FC four goals back. They lead the division by a full point per match, and aren’t showing any signs of slowing. Don’t be surprised if they end up as the USL League Two Playoffs’ top seed again. This team will be hard to beat.
2
Long Island Rough Riders
4-0-0 vs Morris Elite SC
June 4
6:00 p.m. ET
Last year’s National Runners-Up are in second for a few reasons, one of which is how they ended the year last year and the players they’ve returned. There’s no Matt Vowinkel and Jared Gilbey anymore, but All-League keeper Wessel Speel, and the always-electric Ryan Carmichael are leading a team that took four matches to concede their first goal.
3
Monterey Bay FC 2
4-0-0 at Marin FC Legends
June 11
1:00 p.m. PT
It’s a shame the current top two teams in the NorCal division won’t play for another two weeks, but Monterey Bay FC 2 looks as real as real gets for an expansion side. After SF Glens lit Academica SC up for five goals the match before, the newcomers kept their sheet clean when the Glens came to town. They play on the road in four of their next five matches, so it’s going to be a very telling stretch for the rest of the division.
4
Ballard FC
3-0-0 vs PDX FC
June 2
4:00 p.m. PT
The Bridges have reloaded and have talent in spades. They just conceded their first goal, on the road against United PDX. Former Real Central New Jersey star Stas Korzeniowski has fit right in, as has former USL League One player Danny Robles. Returners Lesia Thetsane, Leo Burney and Ian Mejia continue to provide valuable minutes, and while Capital FC Atletico has stumbled out of the gate, the Northwest Division is in Ballard’s sights, especially if they defeat Oly Town FC a week from now.
5
Flint City Bucks
3-0-0 at Oakland County FC
June 3
7:30 p.m. ET
Last season, the Bucks won four of their first five before losing their grip on the Great Lakes Division with a series of dropped points the following weeks. They’re hoping to stave off a similar spell this year, as they’ve won all three of their matches to start and seem to be rolling. They have a critical home win over Midwest United FC, who have only one more point despite playing two more matches. Four consecutive away dates await the Bucks.
6
Des Moines Menace
4-1-0 vs Springfield Athletic SC
June 10
6:00 p.m. CT
The giants are finally toppled! A surefire candidate for first place before last week, Des Moines Menace face their first regular season loss since last in the 2021 season. That was also their first loss in regular time – they were eliminated on penalties in the 2022 playoffs by rivals Flint City Bucks. History says they’ll get right back on track, and this will likely be a blip – but the performance by Chicago City SC in their 3-1 win is notable.
7
Vermont Green FC
2-0-0 vs. Seacoast United Phantoms
June 3
6:00 p.m. ET
The club with a mission to make the world a better place aren’t doing so bad on the pitch, either. Only two wins from two, so we don’t have a body of work to put them any higher yet, but both wins were resounding 3-0 victories that left no doubt about what this Vermont team is made of. The scorelines just about do the performances justice – the dominance was wire-to-wire, especially against Albany Rush, where some goalkeeping heroics kept the scoreline from being extended.
8
Texas United
3-0-0 at Mississippi Brilla FC
June 3
6:00 p.m. CT
Texas United’s defense has been rigid and impressive to start the season, and clamped down a Little Rock Rangers side that had scored 13 goals and kept the sheet clean. The Texas club had a stellar regular season last year, and an earlier playoff exit than they would’ve liked. It’s still been over a season since they’ve lost a regular season match.
9
NC Fusion
4-1-0 at Wake FC
June 6
7:00 p.m. ET
Fusion hadn’t lost at home in four years, until FC Carolinas came to town and beat them 1-0. They had conceded three goals only twice in the last two seasons, and needed a 90th minute winner to break what would’ve been a 3-3 draw with Charlotte Eagles after Charlotte’s Antonio Gomez was sent off in the 65th minute. This NC Fusion side doesn’t have the same level of inherent security provided to them by the likes of Joao Gomiero and Alex Horveno, they are talented and they can put on an impressive performance through players like Pep Cases and Ben Wiemann.
10
Redlands FC
3-0-1 vs Arizona Arsenal SC
June 3
7:00 p.m. ET
One of two expansion sides on the list, Redlands FC drew with FC Tucson to start life in League Two, but followed it up by beating Arizona Arsenal on the road, dominating defending champions Ventura County Fusion 2-0, and hanging five goals on fellow expansion team Capo FC. Redlands are for real – and have to travel back to Ventura on June 9. A lot of space to navigate still, but they’ve started off hot.
11
Nona FC
3-0-0 at Florida Elite Soccer Academy
June 7
7:00 p.m. ET
Undefeated in the Southeast Division last year and looking to do it again, Nona only sits in 11th because they’ve played Swan City – a club they clearly got the better of the first time – twice. All of their wins have been extremely convincing, never scoring fewer than three goals and only conceding once in all three matches. They have three matches between June 7 and June 14, culminating in a date with The Villages, who sit right behind them. That match could be for control of the division.
12
Ventura County Fusion
3-1-0 vs. Redlands FC
June 9
4:00 p.m. PT
Life without Nathan Opoku is hard, but Ventura County are doing their best to make it easy on themselves. Logan Farrington and Abubakar Fofanah have filled in for goals after being held scoreless in the first match of the season, and they’re rapidly picking up steam. They get another crack at Redlands FC on June 9.
13
Ocean City Nor’Easters
3-0-0 at Reading United AC
June 3
7:00 p.m. ET
The only reason the 3-0-0 Ocean City Nor’Easters aren’t higher on the list is their margins of victory. They start periods well – all four of their goals this season have come within the first ten minutes of the first or second half, but there’s a dominance that isn’t quite there yet for this undefeated team. There’s another level to go to in attack for them.
14
Asheville City SC
3-0-0 at East Atlanta Dutch Lions
June 3
7:30 p.m. ET
On paper, one of the more talented teams in League Two. By no fault of their own, their three opponents so far have a combined three points on the league table. They’ve passed every test so far – but next week, they start a five-match stretch that sees them play Southern Soccer Academy and South Carolina United Bantams twice each. We’ll be hearing more from the Blues moving forward.
15
Western Mass Pioneers
3-0-1 vs Black Rock FC
June 3
7:00 p.m. ET
Their goal total surged quickly after a 10-1 domination over last place Boston City FC, which got them right back on track after drawing with Seacoast United Phantoms, who are well-known for their ability to hold a result. Not many missteps for the Pioneers so far – it’s only a shame we have to wait another two weeks to see them at Virtue Field.
