RACINE, Wis. - Today the USL announced that RKC Soccer Club will be the latest club to join USL League Two and the USL W League.

“We are excited to start this club for the larger community. This has been a goal for a number of years and to finally achieve it is an amazing feeling,” Wayne Howard, RKC Soccer Club owner, said. “It’s been a long road with quite a bit more work to do but we are committed to providing a quality training and playing environment for players and an incredible experience for our supporters.”

The club hopes to not only attract talent from the Racine and Kenosha communities, but also statewide and nationally to provide a highly competitive training and match environment.  In addition to fielding highly competitive teams, RKC Soccer Club also wants to represent their home in the best way, and plan to be involved in community driven initiatives in Racine and Kenosha counties.

“Being a unifying force in sport, a club that wants nothing more than to see their community proud and engaged, is fantastic.” USL VP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, Joel Nash, said. “We’re extremely excited to welcome RKC Soccer Club. Soccer in Wisconsin is thriving, and this is just another example.”

This will be RKC Soccer Club’s first season in competition, but the area has a rich soccer history. Racine and Kenosha have produced numerous professional soccer players and coaches, including former US Men’s National Team player Jesse Marsch. The club will be led by an ownership group including Ivan Petrovic, Brian Zikowski and Wayne Howard.

This expansion continues USL’s growing footprint in Wisconsin under the success of Forward Madison in USL League One and the plans for USL Championship expansion through Milwaukee Pro Soccer. League Two’s continued growth in the state gives college-age, pre-professional players the opportunity to showcase their ability, aiming for a future with those professional clubs, or others across the world.
