TAMPA, Fla. - Hudson Valley Hammers right back Samory Powder has been named the 2022 Defender of the Year.
Powder was dominant for the Hammers, nothing six goals and six assists from the fullback position, an impressive feat at any level. When Powder got on the scoresheet, the Hammers were winning - in the eight games where he contributed to a goal, Hudson Valley went 6-0-2.
He also helped the expansion side keep three clean sheets over the course of the season, as they finished just four points away from taking the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
This award was based on votes from fans, League Two coaches and USL League Two staff.
